According to a report by Mordor Intelligence, the Saudi Arabia interior design market is estimated at 4.09 billion USD in 2024 and is predicted to reach 6.52 billion USD by 2029. This growth is largely due to a thriving construction sector in the country with a diverse range of interior design projects fuelling demand.
Saudi Arabia Interior Design Sectors
Retail, commercial, and hospitality projects have all seen huge growth with residential interior design sector taking first place. The demand for high-quality interior services comes from significant residential projects including Avenues Mall and the King Abdullah Financial District, investing around 10.7 billion USD into the architecture and interior design sectors.
Hospitality is the second biggest interior design sector in Saudi, particularly for hotel interior design. The increasing number of hotels are being built in Saudi Arabia as a response to the tourism boom from the Vision 2030 initiative, which seeks to transform Saudi Arabia as a top destination for international travel and diversify Saudi Arabia's economy away from a reliance on oil.
Vision 2030 and the Giga-Projects
Vision 2030 is a forward-thinking initiative to champion cultural traditions, national pride, and modern amenities. On the government website, Saudi Arabia lists the three core values of Vision 2030: a vibrant society, a thriving economy, and an ambitious nation.
Core to Vision 2030 is the creation of the so-called "Giga-projects”, named for their incredible scale and imagination. While these projects have faced controversy, they claim to champion cutting-edge design, technology collaborations, and sustainability.
Of the giga-projects announced in Vision 2030, the areas attracting the most attention are NEOM (including zero-carbon city The Line), the Red Sea, and Diriyah. Each proposal includes a host of attractions, including new airports, yacht clubs, fine-dining experiences, museums, and adventure parks.
By 2030, more than 100 new hotels are expected to open across Saudi Arabia. This means nearly every major luxury hotel brand, including Six Senses and Aman, are to open at least one resort with many hospitality brands expected to open multiple resorts.
